AUCTION ROOMS

In passing

Over six months I have observed the community of Wotton Auction Rooms and the traffic of objects continues to amaze me, the diversity and inherent power of ‘things’ to suggest other lives, other places. A continuous series of objects temporarily suspended in time and space – objects, once possessed, uprooted only to become repossessed by those prepared to bid the most for them.

A rich array of the functional and non-functional, large and small, and of objects that exceed the rational and practical, objects that stir the imagination – objects that echo the social and, in the process, prompt personal memories. Objects and lives, in transit.

With thanks to Philip and the staff at Wotton Auction Rooms without whose support this project would not have been possible.
